GENERATIONALSTORIES

Through tears, my mother would describe her father as the most incredible, loving, patient, never heard him swear in her life until on his deathbed kind of man and father who had ever walked this earth. Knowing and being loved by him seemed like the most incredible privilege to her. I, unfortunately, was only 3 when he passed. My curiosity led me to our family photos and ultimately to more questions. Where did I come from? Who came before me? What was their story?

I learned then that life is fleeting, but having photos made time stand still where I could see my grandmother as the strong, firm woman my mother described to me. Not the frail woman I saw suffering from dementia. That wasn't her whole story. She had a life before what I knew, and I could see it through our cherished photos. To see my mom's hero, my grandpa, in pictures is an incredible gift.

This love for seeing my own family and recognizing my responsibility to capture moments for my own family ultimately led me to buy my first DSLR at the age of 14. Since then, it's been my most tremendous honor to be a witness to my couple's wedding day story. Photographing them and their loved ones for their future generations to sit as children, listening to their parent's stories about their previous generations of loved ones, while flipping through family photos.

Let’s tell your wedding story.
